Soft asafoetida, also known as Hing or Asafoetida, is a plant resin extracted from the hollyhock plant, known for its strong odor and bitter taste. This type is characterized by its soft, reddish texture and quick solubility in water.
The soft consistency of asafoetida facilitates easy dissolving and use.
This asafoetida is 100% natural, free from additives and impurities, and 100% pure.
Its color is yellowish-brown.
The odor is strong and unpleasant for many.
The taste of asafoetida is bitter, but when cooked, it develops a flavor similar to a mixture of garlic and onions.

Uses of soft asafoetida:
It is widely used in Indian and East Asian cuisine as a spice and a substitute for garlic and onions.
It has traditional uses in folk medicine for treating digestive problems, gas, and cramps.
What is a safe dosage?
First: For culinary use (as a spice in cooking)
Common dosage: A small pinch is sufficient for the entire dish, usually about ⅛ to ¼ teaspoon per dish due to the strong flavor. It is preferable to dissolve it quickly in hot oil/ghee before adding the other ingredients.
Second: For supplemental/herbal use (oral)
There is no established dosage for ingesting asafoetida, but it ranges between 200–500 mg per day.
If you need asafoetida for medicinal use, do so for a short period and under the supervision of your doctor.
Third: Use as incense
If you wish to use soft asafoetida to fumigate your home, follow these steps:
Place a burning piece of charcoal on the incense burner.
Place a very small piece of soft asafoetida (because its scent is very strong) on top of the burning charcoal.
The asafoetida will begin to release a fragrant smoke. You can move the incense burner around the house or leave it in a fixed location.
You will not need a large quantity. Just a small amount is enough to freshen and purify the air.
Open windows slightly while diffusing to refresh the air.
Do not use excessively in a completely enclosed space, as the scent is concentrated.
Precautions for Use:
Oral use in large or small doses over a prolonged period may cause gastrointestinal problems and could lead to gas, pain, or other disturbances.
It is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as it may pose risks such as miscarriage or birth defects in the infant.
It may interfere with blood clotting, posing a risk to patients with bleeding disorders or those undergoing surgery.
It is not recommended for patients with epilepsy or those who experience seizures, as it may exacerbate convulsions.
Consult a doctor before internal use, as there is insufficient scientific evidence of its effectiveness.
It may interfere with blood pressure control.
